Locally Verified

The Locally Verified badge means we ran a short set of checks on a business at a point in time. It is not an endorsement, a recommendation, or a quality guarantee.

Locally Verified

What we check

  1. 1. Real local presence

The business has a Texas address, or a real service area that includes ZIP codes this edition covers, and a working local phone number. We check the address or service area against the covered ZIP list and confirm the phone number works.

  2. 2. An active license, where one is required

For work that Texas requires a license for, such as electrical, plumbing, air conditioning and heating, and irrigation, we look the license up in the state's public license lookup and confirm it is active. Where no license is required, there is nothing to look up.

  3. 3. Active business status

We confirm the business is active with the Texas Secretary of State or the Texas Comptroller.

  4. 4. Proof of insurance, on request

For trades where insurance matters, we may ask the business for proof of insurance. A business that cannot provide it when asked may not get, or keep, the badge. We do not publish policy details.

  5. 5. A responsiveness test

From time to time we send the business a test quote request, the same kind of request a customer would send. A business that does not respond within a few business days may lose the badge. The test shows only that the business's contact route works. It says nothing about price or quality of work.

What profiles show

Hill Country West Finder shows no ratings or reviews. Each profile sticks to facts: Locally Verified status, years in business, services, hours, photos, and an optional owner-written About us.
