Check licenses and insurance yourself
Beyond the limited checks behind the Locally Verified badge, we do not check whether a business is licensed, insured, bonded, qualified, or safe, and even a Locally Verified business should be checked by you. Before you hire anyone, confirm their license (if the work requires one), ask for proof of insurance, get a written estimate or contract, and check references.
In Texas, for example, electricians and air conditioning and heating contractors are licensed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (license search), plumbers by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners (tsbpe.texas.gov), and real estate license holders by the Texas Real Estate Commission (trec.texas.gov). Other work may also need a license or permit. Check with the right state or city office.
What Locally Verified means
Locally Verified means that, at a point in time, we checked a business’s local presence, its license where one is required, its active status with the state, and its response to a test quote request. It is not an endorsement, a recommendation, or a guarantee of quality, and it does not mean the business is insured or right for your job. It can be taken away, and it can be out of date. Sponsored placement
Featured and Priority listings are sponsored placements, paid for or arranged with the business. They appear first and are marked Sponsored. A sponsored placement does not make a business better, and a Sponsored label is not a recommendation. Cards marked Not yet claimed are basic entries built from public information, and cards marked Sample Priority listing are examples, not businesses. This site shows no ratings or reviews.
Information may be out of date
Phone numbers, addresses, hours, services, and service areas change. We try to be accurate but cannot promise it. Confirm details with the business before you rely on them.
